FAQ
FIRST TIMERS
Q. WHAT IS RUNAWAY WORKOUT CLUB?
A. Runaway Workout Club is a group-based fitness studio that blends instructor-led run intervals on the treadmill and dynamic, high-intensity exercises on the floor.
Q. CLASS RUNDOWN: WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
A. The workout is a combination of interval running on the treadmill and dynamic, high-intensity exercises on the floor. You can expect to switch from the treadmill workout to the floor workout — having 2 times on each (ie. treadmill workout, floor workout, treadmill workout, floor workout. Done.)
Q. WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING/WEAR?
A. Please bring running shoes and a water bottle and wear something that is comfortable for you to workout in.
Q. DO I ALREADY NEED TO BE IN SHAPE? // DO you have a beginner class?
A. All fitness levels welcome! Our classes are designed to challenge you, however first and foremost, we encourage you to listen to your body. We do not offer a beginner class because (1) The run intervals are individualized (more on that below) and (2) the floor exercises can be modified as necessary.
Q. DO I HAVE TO BE A RUNNER? DO I HAVE TO BE A ‘GOOD’ RUNNER?
A. No, you do not have to consider yourself a runner or a ‘good’ runner at that. The beauty about the treadmill is that no one gets left behind!
Whether you are an elite athlete or new to high-intensity workouts, you will receive a workout that is individually challenging based on your personal maximum pace. The run intervals are designed to keep you challenged and engaged during your workout because they are tailored to your individual ability. The treadmill provides a safe and controlled environment to push your limits and explore what you are capable of.
Q. When I am on the treadmill, will I be running the whole time?
A. Our instructors will lead you through various intervals with recovery time mixed in. During those recovery periods, you will take down your speed and you are also welcome to walk! Recovery time is key! You will be encouraged to take those recovery periods seriously — they are a part of the workout just as much as the interval itself!
Q. No really. I do not want to run at all.
A. No problem! We have a double-HIIT option for you where you can repeat the HIIT segment rather than switching to the treadmill. To book a double HIIT spot please just give the studio a call or email hello@runawayworkoutclub.com and we can set that up for you!
TREADMILL SPECIFIC
Q. TREADMILL RUNNING MISCONCEPTIONS AND CONCERNS:
CONCERNED THAT TREADMILL RUNNING MIGHT NOT BE GOOD FOR YOUR JOINTS…
A. Treadmills are actually kinder to your joints than other surfaces such as concrete sidewalks and streets that do little to absorb shock. At Runaway Workout Club we use WOODWAY 4FRONTS. These treadmills have a patented Slat-Belt running surface that is comprised of numerous individual shock-absorbing slates that have been scientifically proven to reduce harmful shock to joints, muscles, and connective tissues. They are unlike conventional treadmills.
UNCOMFORTABLE RUNNING ON A TREADMILL…
A. The machine may be intimidating and we understand that. We suggest for those that feel less comfortable to start at a slower pace until they feel more comfortable. Like most things, the more exposure you have the more comfortable you will get. Your instructor will cue you throughout the workout and the treadmills come equip with safety shut-offs.
SOME QUICK TREADMILL SPECS:
Our WOODWAY 4FRONT treadmills are built to handle runners weighing up to 800 lbs (360 kg) at speeds between 0-4 MPH (0-6.5 km/h) and 400 lbs (180 kg) at speeds greater than 4MPH (6.5 km/h). Total dimensions: 72" L x 35" W x 64" H. Running surface: 68" L x 22" W.
